And…I won! On Tuesday evening, along with Miss South of North South Food, I gleefully received a YBF award for my food writing. Over the moon. I am so tempted to cliché things up and say…I never win anything! That’s not true. I once won a competition to design a seasonal cheque book for Natwest (a FASCINATING task) and of course, there was the chilli cook off. Oh and the mac n cheese competition. I think maybe I won a colouring competition once. I am flabbergasted at winning this however. The post that did it was my Peckham Korean fried chicken; a tale of deep-frying and drunkenness to a Wu Tang sound track.
I had muchos fun at the awards, and afterwards, so much so that I can’t really walk due to injuries from silly heels. I wore a dress covered in cherries plus my super Peckham necklace. Got to represent. My absolute highlight however was Ottolenghi praising my ‘jaw droppingly foul mouth’.
It’s frankly bizarre to think how this blog has grown and I might take this opportunity to tell you lot that I’ve almost finished writing my second book. I can’t give you all the details just now but soon, soon. There are less recipes than 101 Sandwiches, and a lot more of my writing. Be afraid! It’s still a cook book, though. Will fill you in very shortly.
You can see all the other winners from Tuesday on the YBFs website here.
